The path of Yoga is a journey not a destination. Amrit Yoga classes are structured around a 26 posture flow sequence. From one class to another, the sequence can vary from 26 poses to just a few poses depending on the class theme
of the day. Regardless of the number of poses practiced, students who attend regularly become familiar with the principles of Amrit Yoga and classical Hatha yoga postures (asanas), deep breathing exercises (pranayamas) and the space to go inside and be with what is.
Each class combines instruction for efficient and safe performance and also room to simply learn to listen to the inner wisdom of your own body. Through the posture flow, you learn to stay engaged with detached awareness and witness the rise and flow of sensation in the body. Life-supporting teachings and affirmations are threaded throughout the class to guide you to move deep into your own experience. Meet yourself where you are, and learn to accept all that you bring to the mat. You will learn to relax and let go, heal and grow.
This style of yoga has been called a “Meditation in Motion", coined by Yogi Amrit Desai founder of Amrit Yoga Institute and Kripalu Yoga.
